5. Your First Fall
I honestly don't remember my first. I fell off a lot as a little kid because I rode all the naughty horses. I distinctly remember my trainer actually putting me on bareback, walking around, and shoving me off a bunch of times until I learned how to properly fall. This is the sort of crazy shit you could NEVER get away with nowadays, but it really did make me a better rider. I could stick a lot of things, but if I was going to come off (like a horse that liked to buck while going over a jump - not before, not after, during) at least I was going to land on my shoulder and roll.
